VETERAN performing artiste Sandra Ndebele-Sibindi has given birth to beautiful baby girl.
Sandy as Ndebele-Sibindi is known to many of her fans gave birth to the girl sometime last week. She and her husband Nkanyiso have since named their third child Zinhle.
Sharing the news and a picture of her new bundle of joy, Ndebele-Sibindi said she was recovering at the Royal Women's Clinic in Bulawayo after giving birth through caesarean section there.
The singer, who refused to tell the exact date of the birth, said:
"I'm very excited being a mom for the third time. The baby is healthy and I'm waiting to be discharged from the clinic because I was operated on to give birth. The doctors said I had a lot of water in my stomach and had to resort to surgery." She said she was grateful to God for helping her through the operation and safe delivery of her baby.
"I would like to thank God for bringing me through. I was afraid at first because I was told that I'd be operated on. We prayed with my husband and I came out without any complications together with the baby," said Ndebele-Sibindi.
Meanwhile, two weeks ago scores of Air Zimbabwe passengers endured a delay of more than one hour after airline officials refused to let a heavily pregnant Sandra Ndebele board a flight from Harare to Bulawayo. The songstress said the airline was demanding an official confirmation from her gynaecologist that she was fit to fly. She said they apparently feared she could go into labour in midflight.
The passengers included Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development Minister Professor Jonathan Moyo and mourners who were going to attend the former National University of Science and Technology (Nust) Vice Chancellor Professor Lindela Ndlovu’s burial in Bulawayo.
The morning flight normally takes off at 7AM and lands in Bulawayo at 7.45AM. Some of the passengers told Chronicle that they arrived at 9.15AM after the pilot, Captain Elizabeth Simbi Petros, demanded to see Ndebele’s confirmation letter before takeoff.
"I was so stressed I thought I would give birth prematurely," Ndebele said of her experience. She said the ordeal was even more traumatising because she had told her family to wait for her at the airport.
