Father refuses daughter to be married
A HARARE man yesterday pulled a shocker at the Harare Civil Court when he said he would prefer his daughter’s ‘lobola” ceremony be held anywhere else but not at his house.
Nelson Mairede said this is because he is at odds with his first wife who is the mother of the girl who wants to get married.
Mairede sought a protection order against his ex-wife Prayness Ziumbwa arguing that he had been told by his daughter in law of her intentions to harm him and his new wife.He said it was not possible for him to give Ziumbwa access to his house and would prefer the marriage ceremony of their daughter to be held anywhere else.
“I have no problem with my daughter getting married but for her mother to come to my house is a non-starter.She told my daughter in law that she wanted to bewitch my new wife by putting traditional herbs in our bedroom.
I cannot let that happen,”he said.
Mairede said Ziumbwa always cause commotion at his house whenever she visits under the pretense of seeing their minor child and as a result he wanted her to be barred from stepping foot at his house.
Ziumbwa denied the allegations and said she had no problem if the order was granted.Magistrate Barbra Maketo granted the order in Mairede’s favour and ordered Ziumbwa not physically or verbally abuse Mairede.
