Escaped prisoner , gets caught and send back to jail for 15years

A convict who escaped from Hurungwe Farm Prison in February this year was yesterday slapped with a 15-year jail term for escaping from lawful custody and unlawful entry charges.
Saul Kamademera (36) was sentenced to eight years in prison for escaping from jail and six years for unlawful entry by Mbare magistrate Mr Stanford Mambanje.

A further 18 months which was suspended on his sentence when he was convicted of unlawful entry in 2013 was brought into effect. In total, Kamademera will serve an effective 15 years and six months in jail. The sentences will be served separately.

Mr Mambanje said Kamademera’s behaviour had shown that he was a menace to society, as he had not learnt from his previous conviction by committing a similar offence.

Facts are that sometime in 2013 Kamademera was convicted at the Harare Magistrates’ Court of unlawful entry and was sentenced to a seven year jail term.

In February this year, he escaped whilst he was working in a maize field.
