SOCIALITE Vimbai Tanyanyiwa stands accused of smashing her lover’s smart phone after discovering that he was having an affair with another city woman.Vimbai is accused of smashing Clive Mudzengerere’s Samsung S3.The 24-year-old was arrested and taken to Harare magistrate’s court charged with malicious damage to property.
Vimbai denied the charges when she appeared before magistrate Tafadzwa Muvhami,who remanded her out of custody to May 26 for trial.Circumstaces leading to Vimbai’s arrest are that on December 23 last year,at around 1pm,Vimbai and Clive went to Highlands Police Station after picking a misunderstanding.
It is said that the dispute erupted after Vimbai reportedly discovered that Clive was having an affair with another woman.The two reportedly approached the police in a bid to get counselling but their efforts yielded nothing.Reports are that Vimbai was in possession of Clive’s phone during the time they visited the police station.
After their efforts to resuscitate their ‘souring’ relationship hit a snag,Clive reportedly asked Vimbai to return his phone. Vimbai refused before smashing it on the floor whilst they were still in the charge office at Highlands Police Statin,it is alleged.
State counsel Chrispen Chikafu,valued the phone at US$250.She was arrested and taken to court charged with malicious damage to property. Vimbai is expected to be back in court on May 26 for trail.
