NGO urges Tsvangirai andWelshman Ncube to resignwith immediate effect

Peace and
Democracy
Project, a
Zimbabwean
organisation
based in South
Africa, is calling
on the leaders
of the two
Movement for
Democratic Change formations, Morgan
Tsvangirai and Welshman Ncube, to step down
with immediate effect and pave way for the
reunion of the two parties to form a formidable
opposition with chances to unseat Zanu-PF in the
2018 elections.

The organisation charges that the two leaders
have failed to deliver a new Zimbabwe due to
their irreconcilable personal differences.
Senior Coordinator of Peace and Democracy
Project Gilbert Moyo told Voa that the two leaders
have failed to fulfill their supporters' wishes of
removing the Zanu-PF government from power.

Moyo, whose group was formed in 2003 and is
composed of Zimbabweans who are members of
the two MDC formations, argues that Tsvangirai
and Ncube's failure to unite the two parties
against Zanu-PF has failed millions of
Zimbabweans who thought the MDC would usher
in a new political dispensation in the country.
Meanwhile, The Youth Chapter, a newly formed
pressure group advocating for a new economic,
political and social dispensation led by the youth,
has joined the call for the two MDC leaders to
resign.

Group spokesperson, Mxolisi Ncube, said his
organisation is unhappy that the two have
allowed their personal differences to derail efforts
to dislodge President Mugabe's Zanu-PF party
from office.

Sikhumbuzo Maduna, also a member of The Youth
Chapter, said the two leaders cannot be blamed
for what he calls Zanu-PF's rigging of the just-
ended elections.
Another Zimbabwean youth, Mkhululi Chimoi, said
the blunders made by the two leaders, especially
participating in an election that was clearly
compromised, cannot be forgiven.

The Peace and Democracy Project has vowed to
vigorously spread its Tsvangirai and Ncube
resignation campaign to other organisations and
Zimbabweans in general.
The group says it has no doubt that a united MDC
leadership can defeat Zanu-PF in the 2018 polls.
